Superstar! Comedian Whoopi Goldberg has won numerous awards and considerable acclaim for her work in film, television and theater. Born and raised in New York City, Goldberg worked in theater and improvisation in San Diego and the Bay Area, where she created the characters for “The Spook Show” which eventually evolved into her hit Broadway Show, Grammy Award-winning album and the HBO special. Goldberg made her motion picture debut in Steven Spielberg’s film version of Alice Walker’s “The Color Purple,” for which she earned an Academy Award nomination and a Golden Globe. Goldberg’s performance in “Ghost” earned her the Academy Award and a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress. She has also appeared in such films as “Jumpin’ Jack Flash,” “Clara’s Heart,” “Sister Act,” “Made in America,” “Sister Act 2,” “Corrina, Corrina,” “The Lion King,” “Star Trek: Generations,” “Boys on the Side,” “Eddie,” “Ghosts of Mississippi,” “How Stella Got Her Groove Back,” and “Girl, Interrupted.” Of course, Whoopi is currently one of the stars of ABC’s hit daytime talk show, “The View.” Whoopi is one of the very best in the business, and she continues to perform.
