Lewis Black

BIOGRAPHY

He’s angry – and we love to see him that way. Lewis Black is known to many as “America’s foremost commentator on everything.” His satirical, comedic commentary on the perils of everyday life was first seen every Wednesday night on “The Daily Show With Jon Stewart.” As an actor, Lewis has appeared in such films as “Jacob’s Ladder,” “The Hard Way,” “The Night We Never Met,” and Woody Allen’s “Hannah and Her Sisters.” Lewis starred in “Accepted,” “Unaccompanied Minors” and co-starred with Robin Williams in “Man of the Year.” His television acting credits include: “The Days and Nights of Molly Dodd,” “Homicide,” “Mad About You” and “Law and Order,” to name just a few. Lewis has been featured on CBS Sports’ “NFL Today” and during March Madness. He is also a regular guest on “Late Night with Conan O’Brien.” Lewis received the award for “Best Male Stand Up” by The American Comedy Awards in 2001. In 2004 he was recognized by The Pollstar Awards for his blockbuster comedy tour, “Rules of Enragement.” In 2006, he received a Grammy nomination for his comedy CD of the same name. A milestone for Lewis was starring in a one-hour stand-up special for HBO, “Black on Broadway,” which was also a successful DVD release. His second HBO special from the Warner Theater, in Washington DC, “Red, White and Screwed” aired in June, 2006. He authored his first book, Nothing’s Sacred, which debuted on the New York Times Bestseller List. For Lewis, who recently appeared in the mini-series Madoff, the best just might be yet to come: He has a role in the upcoming Woody Allen television series.
