Lady Gaga

BIOGRAPHY

Lady Gaga began working as a songwriter for Interscope Records, where she penned songs for pop acts such as the Pussycat Dolls. She mounted a solo career several years later, releasing her chart-topping debut single, “Just Dance,” in early 2008. Her debut album, The Fame, was issued later that year, and its Grammy-nominated success paved the way for a UK release in early 2009. Gaga’s march toward the top of the American chart was slow but “Just Dance” reached the peak position in January 2009, followed swiftly by “Poker Face.” “LoveGame” and “Paparazzi” also appeared as singles before Gaga released The Fame Monster in 2009. The mini-LP contained the single “Bad Romance” and helped kick start a stellar year for Gaga in 2010. Gaga’s second album, Born This Way, was released in May 2011 and generated chart-topping songs “Born This Way,” “Judas” and “The Edge of Glory.” Gaga’s third album, Artpop, was released in November 2013 and became her second number one album in the US. Artpop was preceded by singles “Applause” and “Do What U Want.” As of November 2013, she had sold an estimated 24 million albums and 125 million singles worldwide and her singles are some of the best-selling worldwide. Her achievements include five Grammy Awards and 13 MTV Video Music Awards. Gaga was named one of the most influential people in the world by Time magazine. She released Cheek to Cheek in 2014. Lady Gaga continues to tour the world, filling arenas wherever she goes.
