Al Stewart is one of the most acclaimed folk rock artists and songwriters from the 70’s. He’s most well-known for the hit singles “Year of the Cat” in 1976 and “Time Passages” in 1977 – both produced by Alan Parsons. Al grew up playing guitar as a teenager with several dance hall bands. In 1965, he moved to London and started playing Bob Dylan songs in folk clubs such as Bunjie’s and Les Cousins. Al performed at the Marquee club for the first time in 1965, two years before he would release his debut album, Bedsitter Images. Stewart became a very popular character in the Soho scene of the late 60’s and paid tribute to it by writing several songs about his friends from those days. During the early period that he performed at the Marquee, Stewart also released the albums Love Chronicles (1969), Zero She Flies (1970) and Orange (1972). In 2008, he released Sparks of Ancient Light. Stewart has released more than 20 albums and still lives in California. He continues to be a very popular act and tours regularly.
